Angeline Bakkila enjoys playing Basketball during her free time. Basketball is a very popular game and is largely viewed all over the world as a leisure sport. To play this game, it requires two teams each with five members. The game begins with the teams scoring points by shooting the ball through a hoop or a basket which is 18 inches in diameter. The basket or the hoop is fixed at a height 10 feet above the ground. The basketball court is a big rectangular floor which has one hoop at each end. The court is divided into two sections by the mid court line. The game is divided into two equal halves, each of twenty minutes long. The teams have to defend the assigned goal or basket so that the other team does not score a point by putting a ball through it.

After the half time is over, the goals are switched for each team. Afterwards the game begins with one player of each team at the center of the court. A referee tosses the ball between the two teams and the player who catches it first tips it to the teammates. It is also known as a tip-off. Other than this, the ball can be stolen from the opposing team if it commits a foul. The ball cannot be moved down the court by kicking but has to be passed or dribbled. The team which has the ball is offensive and the other one is defensive. The offensive team starts the game. If it has put the ball behind the mid-court line then it has to get the ball over the mid-court line within ten seconds. The possession of the ball is transferred to the defensive team once the offensive team gets the ball over the mid court as it can no longer keep the ball in the area in the back of the line. The team scores two points for each basket and then the ball is passed to the other team. However, if the basket is made outside the three –point arc, then three points are scored.
